Born in Moscow, Russia, and raised in New Jersey, Masha graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design’s Atlanta campus, majoring in Sequential Art and minoring in Storyboarding. She received an MFA from the Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction in 2022. She writes about comics for Women Write About Comics, Shelfdust, and Publisher’s Weekly, and edits essays for The Anime Herald. She also organizes the weekly Jersey Art Meetups at the Arts Council of Princeton with her group, the Princeton Comic Makers. As a cartoonist, her work focuses on the intersection of lesbian and diasporic identity, and the pain of being born somewhere that hates you for who you are. I express this feeling through both autobio comics and genre fiction.
